The trailhead shuttles will be operating on their Thursday – Sunday schedule while the heat advisory is in effect; however, this is being posted to our passengers who will be accessing the trails to observe the precautionary/preparedness actions listed below.

HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST /9 PM MDT/ FRIDAY FOR ELEVATIONS RANGING FROM 4000 FEET TO 7000 FEET…
* WHAT…Daytime temperatures ranging from 90 to 105 for much of the week. Elevations above 7000 feet will not be as impacted by the heat, due to the higher elevation and increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms.
* WHERE…Higher elevations across northern Arizona, including
Flagstaff, Prescott, Williams, Sedona, Payson, Winslow, along
the Mogollon Rim, and into the White Mountains. This also
includes portions of the Navajo Nation, including Tuba City and
Window Rock.
* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
